道家和尚佛家尼姑共谋天下安宁
钟离权，原名云房，一字寂道，号和谷子，以汉咸阳人自居。少习文学，尤精草圣之学，身长八尺，官至大将军。兵败后隐于晋州羊角山，与东华帝君相遇得道。遂自号“天下都散汉钟离权”，意为“天下第一闲散汉子”。全真道尊其为“正阳祖师”，列北宗第二祖。
传承：据说钟离权得东华帝君授以赤符玉篆、金科灵文、大丹秘诀及周天火候、青龙剑法，并于崆峒山紫金四皓峰一洞中得轩辕黄帝所藏玉匣秘诀，从此成仙。
传奇：正阳祖师授度吕洞宾后，又历庐山，有诗赞曰：“铁笛曾闻跨虎仙，金丹亲向帝君传。临行付与纯阳子，红楼上碧天。”
生辰：农历四月十五日生，上升五月十八日。
著作：《还丹歌》、《破迷正道歌》。
封号：元世祖封其为“正阳开悟传道真君。”元武宗加封为“正阳开悟传道重教帝君”。
钟离权在八仙中仅次于铁拐李，其地位甚高，由於被奉為「全真派的開創者之一」，更是廣受尊敬。在五代宋初之际有其事迹记载，但後來因讹误附会為東漢時期人物，而被稱為「漢鐘離」。
关于他的历史形象，可以追溯到唐代，他留下的诗作如《题长安酒肆避三绝句》，充满了对自然美景的描绘以及对自由生活的向往，如坐卧常携酒一壶，不教双眼识皇都；得道真仙不易逢，几时归去愿相从等，都透露出一种超脱尘世的境界。他是一位既懂文学又擅武艺的人物，是一位真正理解生命意义的人。

Fewer literary talents, especially skilled in grass saint studies, tall eight feet high official position to the general. Self-calling "All over the world scattered Han Clock Away", meaning "the first idle man under heaven". Whole true Taoist respect him as "Zhenyuan ancestor" listed North School second ancestor.
Transmission: said Clock Away received from East Huangdi red seal jade talisman, gold code spirit writing, great elixir secret arts of fire control celestial officials' swordsmanship dragon tiger golden elixir secret writings. Later met Hua Yang True Man obtained Taiyi sword pendants fire symbols golden elixirs understanding all mysteries of Daoism. Finally at Songshan purple gold four elders peak cave got Xuanyuan Emperor hidden jade box secrets became true immortal.
Legend: Zhenyuan Ancestor bestowed degree on Lü Dongbin after ascending to Red Tower poem eulogy says: "Iron flute once heard across tigers immortals Golden Elixir personally imparted Emperor's transmission leaving with pure yang child Red Tower up blue sky."
Birthday: born on April 15th lunar calendar ascended May 18th.
Works: composed "Return to Dan song" and "Break through confusion correct path song".
Titled: Yuan Shizu titled him as "Zhenyuan Opening Enlightened Transmission Immortal Lord." Yuan Wuzong further honored him with title of "Zhenyuan Opening Enlightened Transmission Great Teacher Immortal Lord".
Clock Away ranked second only to Iron Flute Li among Eight Immortals his prestige high due to being venerated by Taoists as founder of Quanzhen Sect thus widely respected during Five Dynasties and early Song era but later mistakenly associated with Eastern Han period hence called 'Han Clock Away'.
